Our body never lies. When we fall ill, when we experience depression, addiction, anorexia, it is because we are experiencing an inner conflict between what we feel and what we would like to feel. On one side, our body keeps intact the memory of our history – especially the mistreatment our parents may have inflicted on us – on the other, there is our mind, which determines us to love and honor these same parents.
While this book explores the sometimes dramatic consequences of this conflict, it also shows that there are reasons to hope. No, we are not obliged to be the "good" children of our parents if they have hurt us or if they continue to practice emotional blackmail. Yes, our responsibility is to be attentive to the warning signs our body sends us. At the end of this demanding journey, there is the hope of being born into authentic inner freedom.
