Published in Tintin magazine from September 1958, Tintin in Tibet was released as an album in 1960, two years after Coke en stock. It is the last album to be released as a new edition in the traditional cloth-bound format. The next new edition, The Castafiore Emerald, would introduce the current format with a printed spine. As with several other albums before it, there are few differences between the first edition of Tintin in Tibet and subsequent ones regarding the interior plates. However, the paper, printing, and binding clearly link this album to its predecessors, making its facsimile publication timely.
