À propos de l'auteur
Eiichiro Oda was born on January 1, 1975, in Kumamoto, Japan. From the age of 4, he wanted to become a mangaka. In 1992, while still in high school, he won an award at the 44th Tezuka Contest for Wanted!. After working as an assistant for various authors such as Nobuhiro Watsuki (the author of Rurouni Kenshin), Eiichiro Oda published the first chapter of One Piece in 1997 in Weekly Shônen Jump magazine. Thanks to its endearing characters, dynamic action scenes, and moving storyline, the series has been unanimously acclaimed by a wide audience.
In December 2014, One Piece entered the Guinness World Records as the comic series with the most copies printed worldwide by a single author (320,866,000 copies). And, in 2021, more than 490 million One Piece manga have already been printed worldwide, with each new volume distributed in Japan at over 3 million copies.
Its adaptations into TV series, video games, or films are just as popular as the original series. One Piece also enjoys international success.
